The Stern Report (Week 1)

NFL:

On March 6th 2026, Maxx Crosby was traded to the Baltimore Ravens from the Las Vegas Raiders for two first round picks. Simple right? Well, it turns out that’s not the case as the Ravens backed out of the trade due to a “medical reason” (Crosby just got surgery 2 months ago to repair a torn meniscus in his knee).

General manager Eric DeCosta said in a press conference that the medical team found something of concern and that he deeply regrets putting Crosby through this. Teams around the league believe the Ravens actually got cold feet and backed out of the trade due to Baltimore’s lack of free agent signings and a desire to retain their draft picks. This is more than just a Ravens issue as the Raiders have spent money on free agents with the assumption that Crosby will be off their payroll.

Soon after backing out, the Ravens signed Trey Hendrickson as a free agent. This is an ongoing story as people are now wondering what will happen to Crosby and if the league will intervene as we haven’t seen anything like this before. This situation is similar to the Luka Doncic trade (part two) if they decided to return Luka to the Mavericks.

Baseball:

At the World Baseball Classic team USA lost to Italy 6-8. Yes we lost to Italy at America’s Pastime, as some call it. Another country across the pond dominated us in our own sport. It’s like when we cast British people to play American superheroes (look it up, there's more than you’d think).

MLS:

Nashville SC are undefeated with two wins and a draw. Sam Surridge already has a hot start after signing a contract extension with the club and scoring four goals in two appearances (‘club’ needs to be used more in American sports, it has a much more mature sound to it; excuse my ADD).

Cristian Espinoza also got his first goal last week against Minnesota United FC. Looking forward to him scoring more often as he gets more acclimated to his role on the pitch. (Yes Joseph, I still want to go to a game with you I guess I’ll beg publicly now.)

F1:

Formula One has returned last week (fuck you NASCAR). Both Mercedes cars finished first place as drivers George Russell and Kimi Antonelli podiumed the top two. Max Verstappen crashed in qualifying, starting at 20th on the grid but still managing to finish in 6th place. We are on to the Chinese Grand Prix tomorrow.

NBA:

The Miami Heat’s Bam Adebayo is now officially the first player to drop 83 points in a game, doing so against the Washington Wizards. He passed the all-time second-place record held by Kobe Bryant, who had an 81-point game, and now sits only behind Wilt Chamberlain since he dropped 100 points during a game a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng time agooooooooooooooo- anyways yes, good for Miami.
